Panoramic - Grand Teton Range

I just love capturing the world in a stitched image perspective. Sometimes the images ate long and narrow but more often I capture a scene in a block of images ie: 3x4.
Lately I have had trouble getting the sky to blend consistently. I am hoping that through some blending experiments I can solve this issue.

National Museum of Wildlife Art

Went to the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, WY today. Saw paintings by Kuhn, Bateman, Clymer, Bierstadt and others. Two years ago I would not of had as much appreciation for them as I do today. Processing daily along with paying more attention to light and movement has allowed me to grow as an artist and appreciate museums and art galleries more.
Today's image is from inside of the museum. It is John and Doris Clymers Studio. I decided to give it a ArtisticOil process for the fun of it.

Snaking Through Grand Tetons National Park

Waking up at 4:30am for sunrise is very rewarding around here. Also great to be able to take a long nap in the car afterwards.
I am now off to some gallery browsing in Jackson Hole.
iPhone capture and processed.

Inspired by Dan Burkholder

Flute parade in Nepal
I was honored to meet Dan Burkholder this evening at the Lake Oswego Art Festival. I have admired his work for a long time especially with the iPhone. His work is an inspiration, especially his dedication to his printing process. Seeing his printed images vs the ones I have enjoyed on the computer screen has once again made me realize how much of an art form printing is.

Tonight's image was processed with his presentation in mind. I worked with a combination of a black and white image, a gold toned one and the color version.

Solving World Problems

The Morning Coffee Club regularly meets at Pioneer Coffee in Cle Elum. It is an informal group where all community members are welcome.
Many mornings I have watched and listened to various conversations. Today the topic was car insurance and if you should have full coverage on vehicles that are barely driven. From what I gathered most believe it is always necessary to protect your collectibles to the fullest regardless of the age or amount of rust.

Solstice Parade

It is my understanding that nude bicycle rides were happening all over the US on Saturday. I was in Seattle for the Fremont Parade with about 300 riders. I heard that in Portland over 10,000 bicyclist participated. I hope to be at that event next year.

Father's Day Bike Ride

Celebrated Father's Day early this year! My dad, his wife Deann and I went for a fun bike ride in Suncadia this afternoon.
In the last few days it was great to be able to share a glimpse of my life and my passion with him.
I am a lucky girl to have a father who is a so proud of me.
Happy Father's Day Dad, love you.

Photo iPossibilities - PhotoSync

This week's question: Is is possible to transfer your images from your iPhone to your iPad via a Bluetooth connection?

The application I recommend to transfer image from your iPhone to your iPad for processing is PhotoSync, currently it is the quickest and easiest for transferring high resolution images. This application can also transfer to and from your computer, or from the iPad to the iPhone.

There are other ways to transfer your images but many of them do NOT transfer or sync in high resolution, therefore they are not recommended for processing.
Unfortunately the iCloud transfer between the iPhone and iPad is a downsized image and NOT recommended to use for processing.

Before doing your first transfer please make sure you configure the settings under the 'i' .

The application must be installed and open on both the iPhone and iPad before starting.

Select the images you want to transfer by tapping them. Then tap on the red button on the upper right.
Now tap 'Sync Selected' (if transferring to your iPad.

Now simply tap 'iPhone-iPod-iPad' and the application will begin transfering.

Please note there are many other places to sync your images to. When at the screen flick the screen to the right from many more options.

Street Photography in Nepal

A mother and daughter in Nepal
Working on my image workflows for a book I am writing. I am just starting on it. I will describe step by step the processing steps to create this image. It will be very helpful to understand the complexity of image processing on the iPad. It is more than just apping it and tapping a few buttons. ;-) Love it when people see my images and say, "What App is that?"

Really looking forward to sharing the possibilities with all of you!

This image was captured on the way to the trailhead of the LangTang trek last January in Nepal. I was on the city bus for 10 hours of crazy mountainous driving. We had stopped for lunch and I needed to walk around to settle my stomach from car sickness. This image was such a great gift to have received.

The best part about processing this image is that I did it while sitting in the lounge at Swiftwater Cellars eating crab cakes and listening to live music on my iPad. In my opinion that is much more fun than sitting in my office at home in front of my computer.

Why do you believe in iPhone Photography?

I would love to hear your comments to: Why do you believe in iPhone Phonegraphy?
The photo below is one of the reasons I love adventure travel with the iPhone and why I am so grateful to be living my dream of: traveling, photographing and teaching!
Thanks to Mark Hosko for capturing a moment in my life that means so much to me!

Cloud Folder for your iPad/iPhone

One of many images in my Cloud Folder.
I highly recommend that you create a Cloud Folder on your computer that can be synced to your iPad and iPhone through iTunes to be used as a blends and masks when processing your image. That way when you captured a great image but it has a bald blue sky you can mask in an image with the perfect clouds.

I have a folder full of all kinds of clouds that I have taken with my iPhone. Start creating your own folder now!

Why Google+ is a great place for Photographers

The ticket that changed my professional direction
Just before Memorial Day Weekend I attended the first ever Google+ Photography Conference in San Francisco. To say the least I learned a lot and had a great time.

I have been a member of Google+ for a longtime but never spent much time there. It seemed that Facebook offered everything I needed and frankly I didn't have time for another social network. However when my friend, Levi Sims, suggested that I go to the conference my interest was piqued especially because it was a Photographers Conference, implying that Google+ was a place for Photographers.

There is several reasons I plan on moving my business contacts to Google+. The biggest reason is for the "Hangouts".

I have been exploring a way to connect my students visually to each other so they can share and explore their art together beyond just commenting in text form. Currently I have a secret, private group for my students to share and learn, however with Google+ I will be able to have live and interactive reviews with them. I will also be able to provide live private and public instruction while sharing my iPad with viewers. As Trey Ratcliff explained he invites friends to just "Hangout" and watch him process an image while he shares is screen. A concept I too would like to explore.

Another thing I have noticed is that the comments on Google+ are more meaningful then "great" or "wow". I am hoping this aspect continues as it grows to the predicted 400 million by the end of the year.

So please spend a minute to learn more about Google+. If you do decide to join please circle me. I will put you in my circles too and we will all be "hanging out" soon.

I will be having my first Hangout on Sunday evening, June 10th at 6pm Pacific time. Put it on your calendar now! Circle me on Google+ for continued information.

Photo iPossibilities - fxPhotoStudio Favorites

Question:
With fxPhotoStudio HD is possible to save just some of the effects in another folder?

Yes, you can. By tapping on the star to the right of the effect image, you can make a folder of your favorites. Also you can hide effects you don't think you will ever use.

When in 'All Effects" if you tap on the yellow circle you will place the selection in a 'Favorite' folder.

When in the 'Favorites" folder you will only see the selections you starred.

You can also "Hide" effects by swiping the selection from right to left. When the red Hide appears tap it.

The 'Hidden Effects" can be found within the "Options" tab.

If you tap on "Hidden Effects" you will see a list of the effects you have hidden. If you want them to again appear in your choices of effects just tap on the 'Check".

Remember you too can have your questions answered. send me an email: teri@terilou.com
